About

The Helping Women Recover (HMR) curriculum is a gender-responsive, trauma-informed treatment program for women. The participant’s activities allow women to process and record their experience. The program model is organized into four modules that emphasize the core areas of women’s recovery: Self, Relationships, Sexuality, and Spirituality (not pertaining to any specific form of spiritual practice or religion). The materials are designed to be user-friendly and self-instructive. Program Goals The overall goals of Helping Women Recover (HMR) are: • Decrease in substance misuse • Increase in acknowledgement of trauma • Decrease in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) • Decrease in other trauma symptoms (e.g., depression and anxiety) • Increase in self-efficacy • Increase in emotional regulation and expression • Stabilize recovery
